Dimitris Milakis

Dimitris Milakis is an Assistant Professor of Smart and Sustainable Transport Systems at the Department of Transport and Planning, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology. His research focuses on the nexus between the built environment and travel behaviour with special emphasis on development and possible spatial and transport implications of emerging mobility concepts such as automated driving, vehicle sharing or even more futuristic concepts like Hyperloop. He has a strong interest in developing theory and concepts in this field and empirically test them using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

In 2012, he was awarded a two-year Marie Curie International Fellowship to conduct research on urban form and travel behaviour at University of California, Berkeley (Institute of Urban and Regional Development) and at Delft University of Technology (Transport and Logistics Group). He earned his PhD in urban and transport planning from National Technical University of Athens.
