KiM Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis performs research in the area of mobility. Through exploratory studies and policy analyses, the institute contributes for the mobility policy. The institute’s products are independent of policy-based and political steering. The policy Directorates-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment are involved in drawing up the research programme of KiM.
KiM objective is to strengthen and broaden the strategic knowledge base for mobility policy and thus enhance the quality of mobility policy. As such, KiM contributes ‘evidence-based policy’: that is, policy choices based on relevant facts, comprehensive analyses and reliable estimates of risks in the context of (inter)nationally available knowledge. KiM’s mission therefore comprises the following: “KiM conducts analyses of mobility and mobility policy that are relevant for policy”.
