SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research is the national institute for scientific road safety research in the Netherlands. It is SWOV’s mission to make a contribution to the improvement of road safety with knowledge from scientific research.
SWOV is an independent, scientific institute. SWOV knowledge is public information and it is made available to anyone who is (professionally) involved in traffic and road safety, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Its knowledge and high quality research have given SWOV recognition as a leading institute, in the Netherlands as well as abroad. SWOV aims at interdisciplinary cooperation between researchers within the institute, and with other research institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.
SWOV takes account of others’ wishes when deciding upon its research programme. The interaction with other parties is also leading in SWOV’s research and knowledge dissemination.
