Rotterdam University of Applied Science

Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences is a dynamic knowledge institute for higher professional education. Over 30,000 students and around 3,000 members of staff are pursuing their career here – the typical Rotterdam way: through our Rotterdam Educational Model we provide practice-focused, well-considered, flexible education that allows all of our students and staff to play an important role in real, innovative projects. We teach them how to play that role and provide them with the necessary tools: an expert view, a lot of nerve, and a result-focused approach.

The Research Centre for Sustainable Port Cities concentrates on the development of knowledge, insight and solutions for Rotterdam’s transition into a sustainable port city. Applied research is our way to achieve this. We focus on knowledge development for Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences students’ intended work field, so that the acquired knowledge is of value to the relevant university curriculums.

Through practice based research we aim at the development of knowledge, insight and solutions for the transition of Rotterdam into a sustainable Port City. In our research projects we bring together professionals, students and other stakeholders to efficiently strengthen all parties with knowledge from scientific research.

In Research Centre for Sustainable Port Cities we focus on developing knowledge that strengthens the education of the Rotterdam University of Applied Science, especially the technology courses. We are located at the RDM Campus: the very heart of the collaboration between education, research, and practice.
