Since 2009 Automated Driving research at TU Delft has developed into a strong, multidisciplinary and coherent programme. The main focus of the program is the scientific study of complex interaction with automated vehicles with drivers, traffic flows and transport networks. The research relies strongly on advanced mathematical modelling rooted in empirical observations. Winning this award outlines the leading role of Bart van Arem in shaping the program and summarizes the main scientific and societal contributions.
